Side by side
Against the way it is done now
Not against another product — against a khata and a spreadsheet, because that is what the shop next door is using this afternoon.
| The job | Paper khata | Spreadsheet | Baki.bd |
|---|---|---|---|
| Finding last month’s figure | Flip back through the pages | Hope the file was not overwritten | Filter by date and read it |
| Two people entering at once | One person waits | Two versions appear | Everybody works at the same time |
| Knowing what is owed | Add it up again each time | Correct only if every row was entered | A running balance per customer |
| A staff member leaves | The book goes with whoever kept it | Change the password everybody shares | Deactivate the account, keep the history |
| Stock that is about to expire | Found when somebody reaches for it | Only if somebody maintains a date column | Flagged before it stops being claimable |
| Closing the day | Count the drawer and hope | Count the drawer and retype it | The variance is posted, not absorbed |
| A VAT challan an inspector accepts | Written out by hand | A template somebody edits | Mushak 6.3, rate-wise, frozen at settlement |
| Two outlets | Two books nobody reconciles | Two files, one of them stale | One ledger, stamped per branch |
| The phone as the till | Not possible | Painful | Every screen built for it |
| Working in Bengali | However you write | However you type | Bengali throughout, per person |
The middle two columns describe ordinary practice, not any particular product. Where a shop already runs a system that does one of these well, it does — this table is about the jobs, not about winning an argument.
What it does not do
Worth saying plainly, because every one of these is a reason somebody should choose something else.
It does not work offline. A counter with no connection cannot ring a sale.
It does not file your VAT return for you. It prepares the figures; a person submits them.
It is not an audited accounting package. Books here are honest and double-entry, not certified.
It does not import from every system. Bringing a catalogue over is a CSV, not a button.
It has no mobile app yet. Every screen works on a phone browser; there is nothing to install.
It is not free forever at scale. The free plan is real, and it is capped.
Try it against your own week
The demo already has months of trading in it. Nothing to install.
