Choosing the application that matches your trade
Which of the ten fits your shop, and what to do if you pick the wrong one.
The first question after you open an account is what you deal in. The answer decides which application you get — which is to say, which screens are in the list down the left-hand side.
Ten applications, one system
Inside, the money, people and reporting screens are the same in all of them. What differs is the trading half: a pharmacy needs batches and expiry dates, a restaurant needs tables and orders, a farm needs animals and feed. That is the whole difference.
| What you do | What to choose |
|---|---|
| Grocery, clothes, electronics — selling over a counter | Retail and POS |
| A medicine shop | Pharmacy |
| Restaurant, hotel, fast food | Restaurant |
| Wholesale, dealership, distribution | Wholesale and distribution |
| Servicing, workshop, repairs | Service business |
| Poultry, cattle, fish or crops | Farm |
| A small factory, production work | Factory and production |
| An office or agency — sales and stock only | Sales and inventory |
| Where buying and suppliers are the real work | Purchase and supplier |
| You only want the books | Accounting |
When you fall between two
Plenty of businesses do not sit neatly in one box. The rule that settles it: take the thing you do most often in a day.
- A hundred counter bills a day and two wholesale challans a month? Take retail.
- Twenty big consignments a month and nothing over a counter? Take wholesale.
- If you sell medicine, take the pharmacy. Expiry tracking is not in any of the others, and without it there is no way to catch a strip that has gone out of date.
If you get it wrong
Nothing is lost. You can open a second workspace — tap your shop's name in the top left corner and choose to add a business. Give the new workspace a different application; both run at once, and you can move between them from the same place whenever you like.
Opening a second branch works the same way. Each branch gets its own workspace, its own stock and its own due ledger — but one login.
Worth doing before you decide
Walk through the demo workspaces first. There is one for every application, already carrying months of trading, including the days that went wrong. Nothing you touch in there reaches your own shop.
This screen works the same way in every application, so this guide is written once for all of them.
Try it before you do it for real
Open a demo workspace already carrying months of trading and follow the steps there. Nothing you do in it touches your own shop.
